The Amazing Fanny Crosby
(1820-1915) Hymn Writer
Fanny Crosby became totally blind six weeks after
her birth, the result of a careless medical doctor.
Over her lifetime she gave the world an amazing gift
of approximately 8000 hymns and poems with more
than 100,000,000 in print. The exact number is
unknown as they were printed and reprinted in
almost every language. My family, as have millions
of other families, sang some of Fanny Crosby hymns
almost weekly. Her hymns and poems spoke a
powerful message, and her own story was most
remarkable. Below is a short list of some of her
hymns many of which you may know by memory.
To God Be The Glory ¥ A Wonderful Savior ¥
Redeemed, Redeemed ¥ He Hideth My Soul ¥ Pass
Me Not O Gentle Savior ¥ Jesus Is Tenderly Calling ¥
Draw Me Nearer: And hundreds of other hymns
